ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY BRISBANE CHOIR
We transform lives through singing together.
About the choir
The Absolutely Everybody Brisbane Choir began on World Mental Health Day in October 2014. The choir has gone from strength to strength and in performance the choir inspires and delights their audiences.
Choir explores vocal skills, fun singing warm ups and songs, guests, projects and more. You can be assured of a fun and engaging morning as you connect with others and learn new skills.
This choir will celebrate its 9th birthday in 2023. The members of the choir commit to ‘being the best they can be’ and the choir itself has established a reputation for delighting and surprising their audiences. As an established choir, there are regular requests for the choir to perform, often at high-profile events and venues. Performing with the choir is always optional.
The choir’s team are professionals and caring people, who offer a wealth of knowledge and support to the members. Rehearsals are held at a central South Brisbane area, close to public transport and as a bonus, with magnificent views of the Brisbane River.
The Choir sings a wide range of musical and vocal styles from current pop and rock to gospel, classical and music theatre. There's a strong emphasis on building vocal range and technique along with performance confidence and skills.
After choir, we enjoy a healthy meal together - prepared by our Kitchen Team.
Prior registrations are required. Register using the JOIN button above to be a part of this exciting choir.
Who can join and how much?
Our programs are delivered for the benefit of adults experiencing a mental illness, or anyone disadvantaged or marginalised. Members can attend at no cost - however we ask applicants to include on the application form, basic details of their mental health diagnosis and information about who is supporting them and/or who the referring organisation is. This might be a clinician from Queensland Health, a support worker from a non-government mental health service, or details of support being received from another mental health, disability or drugs and alcohol support service. There's an option to include their medical professional or GP if not working with any of the above. Refer to our application form (via the JOIN button above) for all the details.
These unique programs can help in enhancing self-awareness, self-expression and communication skills and our members often report improvement in their mood, confidence and self-esteem. You'll learn new skills from professional educators and meet new people.
Once we've received your Application Form, we'll send you an email to confirm your place in the program/s you've chosen. This email will include the venue details, how to get there, what to bring and what to expect.
If you're feeling a little anxious....we think that can be pretty normal for a lot of people. Remember, everyone in the room was once where you are now - brand new! All we ask is that you do your best. It’s ok to bring a support person with you, just let us know their name ahead of time if you can. If you can only stay a short time on the first visit, that's ok too!
We also encourage you to come along two to three times before deciding if the group is right for you. Joining a new group does take time - allow yourself time to settle in and get to know the others and the Upbeat Arts team.
'I am looking forward to seeing you on Friday. I just want to let you know that I feel right at home with the choir it is the best choir I can be a part of. I am so very happy...' - Choir participant
'I have never seen my client so animated and show such enjoyment - it makes me cry with happiness to see the change in her because of this first rehearsal with the choir. Thank you so much...' - Support Worker
