CURRENT VACANCIES

JOIN OUR BOARD (Voluntary)

Applications are now closed.

We are seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our Board of Directors. As we enter an exciting new phase of growth, this is an opportunity to contribute your expertise to strengthen governance, strategy, and impact in a values-driven arts organisation.

Board Members play a vital role in setting the strategic direction of Upbeat Arts, ensuring sound governance, and supporting the General Manager to deliver on the organisation’s mission. This is a voluntary role suitable for individuals with a commitment to social impact through the arts.

We are looking for people who bring strategic thinking, strong governence capability and a passion for mental health recovery and/or the creative arts. If you have expertise and you believe you could meaningfully contribute to Upbeat Arts, we would love to hear from you.

While we are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in Human Resources, People and Culture, Technology, Digital Strategy or Cybersecurity, we are equally keen to hear from individuals with other strategic capabilities that could support our mission.

We also value lived experience. People who understand mental health recovery, community connection, or the barriers faced by those experiencing disadvantage are strongly encouraged to express interest.

WHAT'S IT LIKE TO WORK WITH US?

People often ask what it is like to work at Upbeat Arts. The answer we hear from our team is simple: they love it!

Our Board Members, staff and volunteers describe Upbeat Arts as a place where their contribution genuinely matters. Every rehearsal, every creative writing session, every cup of tea shared at the end of the day creates real connection and real change. They see the impact of their efforts in the confidence of our members, the friendships that form, and the sense of belonging that grows week after week.

They tell us they value:

A purpose driven environment Our programs directly support adults living with mental illness or experiencing disadvantage. Our team know their work contributes to recovery, wellbeing and community connection.

A culture of inclusion and kindness We create safe, welcoming spaces for our members, and the same is true for our team. People feel respected, supported and part of something bigger.

Collaboration and creativity Our team are encouraged to bring ideas, try new approaches and celebrate the creative arts as a tool for positive change.

Values that are lived, not just written Inclusion, belonging, growth and visibility guide how we work with each other, how we engage with members and how we show up in the community.

The joy of seeing transformation every week Whether it is someone finding their voice again, making a new friend, or discovering a sense of hope, our team witness moments that remind them why they chose this work.

Working at Upbeat Arts is more than a job. It is being part of a community that believes in people, celebrates creativity and walks alongside adults on their recovery journey.
