Piano Accompanist - Bundaberg

Upbeat Arts is seeking an exceptional Piano Accompanist to work with our new Bundaberg Choir. This role supports our Conductor in fostering a positive and inclusive environment, and contributing to the artistic and personal development of our members.

The Bundaberg team will consist of 3 separate positions, and this Piano Accompanist role is as described below:

Your Role

As an Upbeat Arts Piano Accompanist, you will bring your musical skills to the team, and you’ll be collaborating closely with our Bundaberg Conductor. Upbeat Arts and our Bundaberg Program Leader will manage the operational aspects of the choir, including member and volunteer recruitment, communication, record-keeping, and all other logistical needs essential for sustaining a choir.

No two rehearsals will be the same, as you work with our team and our dedicated choir members and volunteer buddies.

Work details

  • Wednesday’s – 10:15am to 12:15pm
  • Weekly closely aligned to school terms – 45 per annum
  • Performances and events as agreed
  • Venue is currently being finalised. 

Payment

  • For each weekly session delivered, we pay you for 3 hours. This consists of 2 hours contact time (rehearsal) plus 1 hour non-contact time (preparation).
  • The weekly rate for sessions delivered will be discussed during initial conversations with short-listed candidates

What you'll bring

  • Attitude: A positive mindset, with a caring and supportive attitude, demonstrating empathy and encouragement towards all involved.
  • Passion: A genuine passion for the benefits of a choir and a commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
  • Experience: Experience as a piano accompanist, ideally with 3 – 5 years experience. Experience working with a diverse client group including people experiencing mental illness. Both of these are desirable, but not essential. 
  • Skills: Strong piano and accompanist skills. Sight-reading and improvisational skills are very important to us.
  • Leadership: You’ll be a team player and have the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse group of individuals, helping us to create an enjoyable, positive and collaborative environment.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with choir members, volunteers, carers, staff, audiences and stakeholders effectively.
