Upbeat Arts engages, educates and empowers adults experiencing any form of mental illness (or any disadvantage or marginalisation) in Queensland by offering access to tailored arts programs which provide new skills, hope, comfort and connection for our members.

Programs available?

In Queensland, we hold 5 arts workshops each week during school terms:

  • South Brisbane – 3 separate workshops/rehearsals
    • choir
    • creative writing
    • song writing
  • North Brisbane – 1 choir
  • Online – creative writing program for residents of Queensland.

Where are they held?

Our programs are held in venues with public transport nearby or parking. Suburbs are listed when you click on the program information to the right. Prior registration is required, and venue details are provided to members on receipt of your application form and confirmation of your acceptance into the program.

Who are they for and how much?

Members can attend at no cost – however we ask applicants to include on the application form, basic details of their mental health diagnosis and information about who is supporting them. This might be a clinician from Queensland Health, a support worker from a non-government mental health service, or details of support being received from another mental health, disability or drugs and alcohol support service. There’s an option to include their medical professional or GP if not working with any of the above. Refer to our application form for all the details.
