Upbeat Arts is delighted that you have joined our Volunteer Team. This part of the process should take approx 30-40 minutes and from going through this, you'll have a better understanding of who we are and how things work.

Question 2 - Who are the Queensland Patrons of Upbeat Arts?

Additional Info: Dr Christian Rowan was instrumental in bringing Upbeat Arts to Queensland in 2014. He saw the value of our programs and campaigned the Government for a pilot program.

Alongside this training, you'll also learn as you go and we'll provide an onsite induction at your first session. The onsite induction will include:
**Emergency exits and procedures
**Site orientation
**Meet and greet - staff, members and their carers and other volunteers
If you're a Kitchen Team volunteer; we'll be sending you a Kitchen Operations Handbook and you'll need to do an online Food Safety Certificate too.

We do take photos and videos, which we use to promote our programs. You'll have hopefully already signed our 'media release' in the previous form.
Our programs help members increase their self-esteem, confidence and social connectedness. We love to see members move from their program to study at TAFE or University, volunteer or work. Upbeat Arts is often a step back into the community.

Question 8 - You also have responsibilities to Upbeat Arts. Make sure you read through them. In addition to 'Our Behaviours', tell us two things you should assist us with?

Also, we remind you not to touch anyone without their prior consent - even a gentle touch on the shoulder can upset some members. Keep your eyes open during sessions, if you see anything 'out of the ordinary', please let our staff know immediately.
4.1 Blue Card - you should keep yours up to date.
4.2 Food Safety Certificate - for Kitchen Team only - if you haven't completed this yet, please do so asap. If you need the links again, let us know.
4.3 Rostering - for Kitchen Team - we'll be in touch before the start of each new term to check your availability. From there, we'll prepare the roster and send it to you. For buddies - as discussed, our expectation is that we'll see you each week. If you can't make it, please send a courtesy message to your Upbeat Arts Contact.

Question 10 - It's important you know that Upbeat Arts is accredited against the National Standards of Mental Health Services. For the protection of our organisation and everyone involved, we are required to have policies and procedures in place. If you ever need to access any relevant to you and your role, where can you find them?

Oh no - you've seen a hazard! A spill or a trip hazard - if it's safe to do so, please correct the problem yourself or let someone know immediately.
Lifting - think before you lift.
First Aid - All venues we use have first aid kits on site, please familiarise yourself with their location.
In the event of a Medical Emergency - we have a procedure in place. You will be surrounded by people who know what to do, and in the email where you got the link to this training, you'll find a link to the Emergency Procedures in Step 5.
You're asked to have review it, not to memorise it, but to have a general understanding. Thank you.
